We are really at a loss for words right now. You see the bride in this post is Tracy’s sister, Tania. After 8+ years of dating and the occasional long-distance relationship, she married her love Kevin, and finally tied the knot. Their beautiful celebration took place nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains in the quaint town of Topanga Canyon, California. The Mountain Mermaid House was so fitting for the duo especially with the venue’s laid-back, California vibe and it really reflects on the simplicity that is Tania and Kevin. Family and friends from all over the country and world came to celebrate and it was great to reunite with old friends and meet new ones in the process.
We’ll let the images do the storytelling…but we just wanted to say how honored we are to have documented a wedding so close to our hearts.
Tania shared her ideas to come up with the concept for the invitations while Tracy designed them and matched them for all the signage throughout the wedding.
A huge thank you to our associate shooter for the day, Lizzi! We really couldn’t have done it without you!
We really recommend first looks prior to the ceremony and so glad that Tania and Kevin decided to do one. Since Tracy was off matron-of-honor duties for a bit, she was able to sneak in a few shots of the first look. It was really awesome to have three points of view for this, especially since the venue has various angles to work with.
Another special note here to add. Tracy and Tania’s uncle who is priest and currently serves for the United States Army, was the one who officiated their ceremony. We appreciate him taking time off and flying in from Germany to be here with us!
Since Kevin is from the East Coast and Tania is from the West Coast…they decided to incorporate freeway and subway signs for their table numbers. Also major props to their dad for doing the calligraphy work on the seating chart. This is probably where the artist in both sisters stem from.
The awesome thing about Mermaid Mountain House is all the rustic decor that comes with the venue without needing to hire an entire staging company. Suitcases, books, and card house is all from our studio…However, the gorgeous birdcage belongs to the venue and we loved how Tania and Kevin incorporated wedding photos of their immediate family. (see if you can find us in it).
The signature cocktail of the evening was a calamansi mojito that Tania envisioned. After Tracy and Tania’s trial runs on the mix, Cam had to save the day to come up with the right concoction. For those who don’t know what calamansi is, it is a small lime-like fruit that is widely grown in the Philippines and in other parts in Asia.
Tracy was incredibly busy the weeks leading up to the wedding and didn’t have a chance to write her speech until the cocktail hour – hence the classy laptop. However, she ended up not reading her speech that she wrote. Instead, spoke from her heart and did a wonderful job making almost everyone cry.
Tania’s aunt and uncle who flew in from Hawaii have been married for more than 40 years shared some words of wisdom for the couple.
Auntie’s advice, “You have two choices. Do you want to be right? Or do you want to be happy?”
Uncle’s advice, “Listen to your wife.” 🙂
Gotta love them…they are so funny….
Tania, queen of the robot.
Ending the images with this one here. We love you guys!!!
We know most of you personally and professionally and we want to thank you. Seriously couldn’t have done this without you guys! Thank you for making my sister and brother-in-laws wedding such a huge success.
