New York City. Definitely one of our favorite places to be. Thanks to one of our awesome couples, Rachel and Greg – we were able to visit the city once again and explore new things. When we began to discuss possible locations for their engagement session, the ideas seemed endless – Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, the infamous subways, Grand Central Station, Central Park, etc, etc.. For a small island, there was definitely lots of locations. In order to avoid transferring from subway to subway, Rachel came up with the idea to visit Governor’s Island just outside of the city. It was the perfect setting – awesome buildings, grassy fields, and views of lower Manhattan, Statue of Liberty, and the Brooklyn Bridge from afar.
As we walked through the island…we learned more about Rachel and Greg and their love story through mileage runs. A mileage run is a trip just for the purpose to earn frequent-flier miles – basically its a trip to anywhere just as long as the fare is purchased at a good rate to balance out the cost. In return, you definitely receive awesome upgrades from your airline and its affiliates. Rachel and Greg met through one of their travels and their relationship flourished ever since. Until recently, Greg and Rachel lived a bi-coastal relationship with Greg being based in Los Angeles while Rachel in NYC. Now, Greg is a New Yorker.
Rachel and Greg, THANK YOU for sharing NYC with us and taking us to Governor’s Island. Seriously, we would have never found such a gem if it wasn’t for the two of you. We had such a great time with you both and we look forward to your wedding next Spring 2012.
Cute little sachet sold by the Etsy shop on the island. Tracy was particularly excited about this since she enjoys online window shopping on etsy.com.
Its a ten-minute ferry ride to get to Governor’s Island and its free! In the distance you can see the Staten Island Ferry.
The weekend we were in town, it was Fleet Week honoring the US Marine Corp and Navy. We were lucky enough to catch the Osprey fly over us during our session.
Greg being born and raised in Hawaii, it was only appropriate for him to give us at least one shaka sign – definitely he’s spreading some Aloha in NYC.
And meet Froggie. He was a gift from their friends when Rachel and Greg first started dating. Froggie is quite the traveler. He would travel between NYC and LA and has racked up a ton of miles too. He has racked up at least 120,000 miles. That is more miles than mine and Tracy’s car combined! 😀
Love the views of Lower Manhattan behind.
And the view of the Brooklyn Bridge…
what beautiful images! great way to be in nyc without feeling nyc-ish.
i love these images!
